Does anyone watching this space feel like showing off their costumes at the end of February?

CosSoc will be having a fashion show on the 23rd, 24th or 25th of February on the main stage at Sydney University's Orientation week, and I am eager to get as many interesting costumes up on the stage as possible.

The theme for this year's O-week is "Vintage Nautical" but you by no means have to follow that theme to be in the fashion show. You don't even have to be a student, I want as many people as possible so we can get people excited about costumes and ensure CosSoc continues to grow.

Well I still don't think I'm going to be uploading art very often, I'm still mainly here as a connoisseur rather than an artist.

But the thought occurs that my status as CosSoc president is leading to new things. Costuming is a well developed artistic medium that I hadn't really considered until recently, and these days it's something I do fairly often. So I think there might be the occasional update in my gallery... Though it'll be hard to top my genie costume without getting my cosplayer friends to teach me to sew.

Hmmm... thought perhaps it was time to bump that louise post down so it's not the first thing you see. Not that anyone reads this since I never post anything. I'll finish the fallen angel project some day, but for sanity's sake I'll leave it until my former relationship with the model is old-news enough for it to not be weird. Also I'd need her permission, and we're not on speaking terms lately.

Current project therefore is to get my scanner working and scan in the spaceship I designed during high school. That sketch is my best or second best sketch (the other candidate being the dracolich) and so deserves going through the process of conversion into a digital painting. Never got round to it before because I didn't want to damage the original any further (it's A2 and used to be used as a prop for roleplaying games so isn't in the best condition, not to mention that the lines are faded because I stupidly did it on waxed paper), but since I now have a scanner with a removable lid (making folding unnecessary) this should nolonger be a problem.

So watch this space, and hopefully soon you'll get to see the bioengineered black hole surfing techno-squid-tree ship thingy... I think I called it "The Event Horizon"... I dunno... hopefully I wrote it down on the sketch.

After that I'll redo the dracolich by itself (without the surrounding elements), which may or may not involve resketching it in a solo pose (since the bulk of the work went into the design of the creature, and the current sketch shows it battling a rather less well drawn dragon that detracts from it somewhat).

Then (circumstances permitting) I do the fallen angel.

And then, sanity permitting, I might just recompose all those works into a new version of the battle scene shown in the original dracolich sketch. Mostly this is because the main thing that was missing from the original was a decent female humanoid (the existing one is shit), and once I have the fallen angel done I'll have one.

Take all this with a kilo of salt though, because I'm very busy and very lazy.

Ok so I broke up with Louise months ago and then regretted it... now she wants to have a "talk"... I assume this is the "look I'm never going to take you back so stop chasing me" talk.

*sigh*

So anyway she's the only girl who ever modelled for me, and thanks to her I finally have some photos suitable for digital manipulation to create a really hot fallen angel character.

So what do you think?

Do I go ahead and make art out of my ex-girlfriend? Or would that be too stalker-ish?

When I broke up with her she wanted me to finish it, but she still had feelings for me back then. I want to finish it... but I also don't want to creep her out. At the same time I can't ask her, because if she knows I'm working on it she'll bug me for a preview.

Ok so I've finally uploaded some stuff... nothing worth getting excited about though.

I'm still very tempted to upload the copyright violation stuff... I've got 2 images that I actually consider worthwhile but really I didn't do the original sketches so I can't.

Anyone still in touch with Alexis Walburn? it was a friend of hers that did the sketch for one of them... maybe I could get permission from the original artist if I knew who she was? lol... I should probably ask if it's that girl I keep bumping into on the train, knowing my luck the original artist has been under my nose the whole time.
